Mary Cameron Yeomans joined the Florida State University Student-Athlete Academic Services staff in May of 2017 as an intern.

Prior to joining the FSU SAAS staff, Yeomans was as a Graduate Assistant for The University of Georgia in Student-Athlete Academic Support at the Rankin Smith Center. While working as a Graduate Assistant, she obtained a Master’s degree in Middle Grades Education and a Specialist’s degree in Language and Literacy Education. At UGA, she worked with all sports as a tutor, academic mentor, learning specialist, and interim program coordinator. She aided high-risk student-athletes in the management of their schedules and mastery of course content. Yeomans also performed the administrative and leadership duties of UGA’s Athletic Mentor Program. While balancing the needs of her own caseload of students, she handled all mentor scheduling, communication, payroll, quality control, observations, and professional development. Yeomans finished her time at UGA as the Interim Head Coordinator of the Student-Athlete Academic Mentor Program

During her graduate study at The University of Georgia (2014-2017), Yeomans also led a research and student development project in Student-Athlete Academic Support Services. This project collected data on student-athlete learning styles and academic needs. This information was used to create individual learning profiles for student-athletes utilized by coaches, academic advisors, tutors, mentors, and other departmental personnel. Overall trends in this data allowed Yeomans and her coworkers to better meet the learning needs of the student-athlete population and to focus staff development on areas in need of growth.

Yeomans is passionate about assisting student-athletes in their holistic development, bringing their full potential to fruition both on and off the field. She plans to obtain a Ph.D. in the field of education and student development in the future. Yeomans is a native of Athens, Georgia.
