In February of 2018, one of the most experienced members of the Florida State Athletics Department joined the Student Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) staff. Carol Ayer accepted the position of Administrative Specialist/Office Manager after working in various administrative capacities for FSU’s legendary football program since 1985.

Carol will have primary administrative responsibility in virtually every area within the SAAS department.

She began her FSU tenure as the administrator for the defensive coaches within the Seminole football program from 1985-87. She became the primary administrator for the recruiting office within football from 1987-92 before working with the offensive coaching staff from 1992-96. She was elevated to the program assistant for recruiting in 1996 and remained at that post until becoming the office administrator for football operations from 2003 until her move into academics.

In addition to her responsibilities with the football program, she twice served as the advisor to the Garnet and Gold Guides serving in that role from 1998-2002 and again from 2004-14.

Carol is a Tallahassee native and attended North Florida Christian School and Tallahassee Community College. She is married to Matt Ayer and they have two children – Ansley and Brandon.
