Aaron Tillman, a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, joined the Florida State University Student-Athlete Academic Services staff in March 2018.

Aaron attended Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) from 2008 to 2012 and earned his bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. Upon graduation, Aaron was offered a position from ITT Technical Institute, where he served as the Education Coordinator from 2012 to 2015. Aaron was then offered a position in 2015 from his alma mater, to work with student-athletes as an Athletic Academic Advisor.

In his tenure at FAMU, he monitored the academic eligibility and provided academic support for several teams, including Baseball, Bowling, Cross-Country, Football, Golf, Tennis, Track and Field, Softball, and Volleyball. Aaron helped to facilitate Rattler Summer Institute (RSI), which helped acclimate incoming freshman and transfer students. He was also responsible for introducing the athletic department’s first electronic academic monitoring system, GradesFirst.

Aaron is an award winning academic advisor, receiving the Best of State Award from the Florida Academic Advising Association (FLACADA), and 1st place from the Society of Professional Journalists for his documentary, The Need to Belong. He is the author of Finding Christ in College, which reveals how he overcame the many trials of being a college student. He desires the holistic growth of student athletes, to enhance their mental, social, and multicultural competence.

Aaron has been married to his college sweetheart Stephanie, since 2012, who shares his passion to empower young people. He is also a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). He is currently pursuing a master's degree in school counseling at Florida State University.
