Kristina Artino, originally from Detroit, Michigan, but grew up in Stow, OH joined the Florida State University Student-Athlete Academic Services staff in August of 2021. In this capacity, Kristina provides guidance to student-athletes regarding academic and personal skill development as well as monitoring academic eligibility, major selection, advisement, progress toward a degree, and assists with recruiting. 
 

For the past 15 years Kristina has worked in Higher Education with ten plus years in Division 1 Athletics. Prior to joining the FSU Academic Staff, Kristina served as the interim head of Student-Athlete Academic Services at the University of Akron as their Assistant Director from 2019-2021 where she advised football for over 10 years and led the Zips Football academic program to earn the second highest GPA in the Mid-American Conference in the 20-21 academic year.

Kristina found her passion for student-athlete advising while she was pursuing her first Master’s Degree in 2011 and working in the School of Communication where she assisted many student-athletes. Passionate about athletics, and education, Kristina competed in gymnastics for ten years and cheerleading in high school.

 

Kristina has two children, Anthony and Maria, and a dog who she adores, Lucy. Kristina is also an active member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A), and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
