Matthew joined the Florida State University Student-Athlete Academic Services Staff in May 2024. Before starting in this position, Matthew was a student-athlete at Florida State University competing on the men’s cross-country team as well as the track & field team. A native of Tallahassee, Florida and a lifelong Seminole, Matthew graduated in 2022 and 2024 with his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Sport Management respectively. Matthew was a member of 3 Golden Torch winning teams at FSU for the highest GPA in the athletic department in addition to winning the 2023 individual Golden Torch Award for Men’s Cross Country. Newland was also a 4-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
