Chad McClellan joined the Florida State University Athletic Department as Assistant Director of Football Academics in August 2019 after years of work in athletic academic advising and college counseling.

Most recently, Chad served as the Director of College Counseling at Maclay School in Tallahassee helping to guide students through the college admissions process.  Prior to his time at Maclay, he spent 13 years working with student-athletes at The Ohio State University where he served as a mentor and Athletic Academic Advisor for the men’s basketball, women’s soccer and softball programs.  During this time his teams’ enjoyed great success in both the academic and athletic arenas. 

A life-long Seminole, Chad grew up on the Florida State campus where his father, Dr. Stephen McClellan, served as the Vice President for Student Affairs in the 1970’s.  Chad returned to Tallahassee as a student-athlete in the 1980’s and played on the Seminoles 1986 national runner-up baseball team. 

Chad and his wife Melissa are avid collectors and are always on the hunt for antiques and unique treasures.  They have four fabulous dogs Hazel, Otis, Penny and Roscoe.
