Oscar joined the Florida State University Student-Athlete Academic Services Staff in November 2024.

Prior to Florida State, Oscar served as a teacher, coach, administrator, and athletics director in the K–12 setting. He also coached collegiate track and field at the Division I, II, and III levels, developing numerous conference champions, school record holders, and national-level competitors, including two NCAA runners-up.

While earning his undergraduate degree, Oscar served as President of the African American Student Association and the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, and participated on various campus committees. As a graduate student, Oscar began working as a student-athlete mentor, which eventually led to a full-time position at Boise State University as an Athletics Academic Counselor/Tutorial Coordinator. While at Boise State, he was responsible for monitoring student-athlete eligibility, coordinating the tutorial program, overseeing athletic study halls, conducting class checks, holding academic skills meetings, and teaching as assigned.

As a student-athlete, Oscar was a 3× NCAA All-American in the javelin, breaking both school and conference records. He competed in three Olympic Trials, made a World Championship and Pan Am Games team, and was consistently ranked among the top javelin throwers in the U.S. during his career.

Oscar now enjoys time with his wife, Nicole, and their seven children. As new residents of the Tallahassee area, they love exploring all the city has to offer.
